Oblates, Candidates and Inquirers are invited to participate in service opportunities that suit their energy level and time. Here are some that occur each year or are ongoing. Others may arise from time to time and will be posted when information is known.
Pray and Work Days
We usually offer two special days during the year when oblates, candidates and inquirers come together to pray and work at various tasks with the sisters. Due to the current pandemic these days have been cancelled for 2020 and are yet to be scheduled for 2021. Please stay posted for any updates.
Assist at Benedict Inn Retreat & Conference Center
Volunteers are always welcome at Benedict Inn Retreat & Conference Center. Contact Benedict Inn to offer your services, www.bennedictinn.org or 317-788-7581.
Alliance for International Monasticism (A.I.M.)
Oblates of Our Lady of Grace Monastery relate to two sister communities in Argentina, Gaudium Mariae Abbey in Cordoba and Our Lady of Parana Monastery in Parana. The relationship includes keeping in touch via e-mail, sharing newsletters, and financial assistance. Each year the oblates take up a collection during Lent to assist these communities with their needs and ministries. The money collected is distributed through A.I.M. Another project is the collection of books that are sent to A.I.M. for distribution to monasteries in Asia, Africa, Central and South America. However, due to restricted shipment into other countries and lack of storage here at this time, books are not being collected until further notice.
Hospitality for meetings and retreat at Our Lady of Grace Monastery
Volunteers are always needed to assist with hospitality for oblate meetings and retreat. The Assistant Oblate Director for Service asks for help in providing sweet or salty snacks for meetings, setting up
hot and cold drink stations, and assisting with clean-up. Contact Ann Swiontek, email@example.com to volunteer. NOTE: all on site meetings at the monastery are restricted due to the pandemic until further notice.
